On Thursday, June 15, the 6th edition of the BPM symposium took place at Wageningen (NL). In Session 2, Ed de Jong from Avantium gave a presentation on "Renewable chemicals into bio-based materials: from lignocellulose to PEF" showing the company's strategy to achieve efficient and low cost conversion of C6 sugars via HMF derivatives into the promising chemical key intermediate FDCA.
During the Symposium other key industry players such as Cargill, Stora Enso, DuPont, Total Corbion and PaperFoam also reflected on their R&D strategies and shared with participants how R&D on biobased materials leads to market entry.
